In Memoriam 8/7/33 - 12/26/16  SVPAM Founder ~ James G. Pitcavage, M.D., F.A.A.P.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Pticavage earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He served pediatric residencies at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY, and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He completed additional training in renal physiology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and served as a flight surgeon with the United States Air Force. Dr. Pitcavage was board certified in pediatrics, and was a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Pittsburgh Pediatric Society, as well as the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Medical societies. He was past president of the pediatric department of Sewickley Valley Hospital and the founding practitioner of Sewickley Valley Pediatrics. Dr. Pitcavage was the founder of SVPAM which celebrated it's 50th anniversary in 2015 (established 1965)!  His memory will be forever ingrained in those he served. 

David H. Hennessey, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Hennessey graduated from Hobart College in Geneva, NY, and earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He served his pediatric residency at the University of Cincinnati, Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. Board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Hennessey is also a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, England, and former vice president of the Venango County Medical Society. Dr. Hennessey is an SVPAM Partner Physician. He joined the group in 1986.

Daniel M. Graff, M.D., F.A.A.P.

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Graff received his B.A. degree in biochemistry from Harvard University and earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his medical and pediatric residencies at the University of Wisconsin and completed specialized training in neonatal care at West Penn Hospital. Dr. Graff is certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatric Medicine and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is the Managing Partner for Sewickley Valley Pediatrics and has been with the practice since 1989.

Vida S. Kaniecki, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Kaniecki joined Sewickley Valley Pediatrics in August , 2006. 14 years prior, she had been in private practice in Pittsburgh. Dr. Kaniecki graduated from Washington University School of Medicine and completed her residency at St. Louis Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She is board certified in pediatrics and completed an additional fellowship in Medical Genetics at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Kaniecki currently heads the ImPACT program for SVPAM and was recently named the Chairman of the Pediatrics Department for HVHS-Sewickley. Additionally, Dr. Kaniecki is an SVPAM Partner Physician. She joined SVPAM in 2006.

Jacqueline Saladino, M.D., F.A.A.P., IBCLC

Dr. Jacqueline Saladino joined Sewickley Valley Pediatrics in August 2007. Dr. Saladino is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in June 2007. Her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology was received from Grove City College. Dr. Saladino is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified in pediatrics. In March 2015, Dr. Saladino achieved certification as a Breastfeeding Specialist and in July 2016 achieved certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Dr. Saladino is also the former Medical Director of Pediatric Specialty Care Hopewell - a pediatric residential treatment facility in Hopewell, PA,  January 2008 to 2016. Additionally, Dr. Saladino is an SVPAM Partner Physician and joined us in 2007.

 

Gail Warner, CRNP

Gail joined Sewickley Valley Pediatrics June, 2009. Immediately prior to joining SVPAM, Gail served as Director of Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for the Koutiala Hospital for Women and Children in Koutiala, Mali, West Africa. Gail has also worked in the Pittsburgh area as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Allegheny General Hospital and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Gail received her Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1993 she also obtained a Master of Divinity with concentration in Cross-Cultural Studies from Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York. Prior to her work in Mali, she received a Certficate of Studies in Tropical Medicine from the Institut de Medecine Tropicale Prince Leopold, Antwerp, Belguim.

Robert Schwartz, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Sewickley Valley Pediatrics announced the addition of Dr. Robert Schwartz in April 2014. Dr. Schwartz completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, attended New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY with residencies at Schneider's Children's Hospital in NY as well as Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He has been in private practice since 2010. 

Kristina Johnson, Ph.D

Sewickley Valley Pediatrics is pleased to welcome Kristina Johnson, Ph.D, to the practice. Dr. Johnson started seeing patients in September, 2015 and will provides Behavioral Health Services to our patients and families in need. She joined us after nearly three decades with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, Center of Autism and Developmental Disorders, where she most recently served as Senior Program Director. Dr. Johnson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Masters degree in Education, and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Special Education and Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her post-doctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Johnson has taught at the University level and published in the areas of behavioral assessment and treatment. Her clinical research interests have focused on education and treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities and severe behavior/psychiatric disorders through effective applied behavior analysis. Dr. Johnson has extensive experience and expertise in providing behavioral health care across multiple treatment areas. She will provide individual and family systems support, detailed patient functional behavior assessment, individualized positive behavior support plans, and key instruction to families on how to implement the behavior plans to treat various conditions including, but not limited to ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, and other behavioral challenges. Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Psychological Association and is a Licensed Behavior Health Specialist. She will be an integral part of our primary care treatment team, adding valuable services and supports to the outpatient behavioral health arena for SVPAM patients and families.

Susan Pointer, CRNP, IBCLC

Sewickley Valley Pediatrics is pleased to announce the addition of Susan Pointer, DNP. Susan will start seeing patients in the fall of 2015. In addition to her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP), Susan is certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and will enhance SVPAM's established Breastfeeding Support program. Susan's 16 years of experience as a Staff Nurse / Lactation Consultant in Maternal Child Health, makes her an excellent addition to our pediatric care team! Susan is a graduate of Penn State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Policy and Administration. She achieved her Master of Nursing degree from Waynesburg University and completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program at Robert Morris University in May 2015. Please join us in welcoming her to the practice!

Jennifer Diserio, CRNP, PNP

Sewickley Valley Pediatrics is very pleased to announce the addition of Jennifer Diserio, CRNP, to the clinical team. She will begin seeing patients in Sewickley & Rochester 5/22/17. 
Jennifer received her Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh's Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) program & her undergraduate Degree in Nursing from West Virginia Wesleyan College. She has served as a PNP with UPP Neurology ~ Division of Pediatric Neurology; UPMC Vital Staffing; Bellevue Pediatrics; and UPP Dermatology ~ Division of Pediatric Dermatology.

Liz Yankello, RN, CPN, CHM Legal Nurse Consultant - Practice Administrator 

A graduate of the Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Liz has been with Sewickley Valley Pediatrics since 1985. Her previous roles with our group include staff nurse, clinical staff manager, and now Practice Administrator. She is board certified in pediatric nursing from the National Pediatric Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses (PNCB) & serves as a volunteer CPN Champion. Liz obtained a certificate in Legal Nurse Consulting in 1999. In 2012 she achieved certifications in practice management, earning the designation of CPM and CHM. Liz is a former member of the American Association of Office Nurses, a former member of the former Physician Office Managers Association of America (POMAA) and past Vice President of the Pennsylvania State Chapter of POMAA, a current member of the National Healthcare Leaders of America, a current member of PAHCOM (Professional Association of Healthcare Office Management), a current member of the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Medical Societies, & the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) as well as a Nominee with the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). She serves on the Member Advisory Panel for the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Clinical Advisory committee for GE Healthcare CPS EMR. Liz has also served as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the clinical publication "Medical Office Nurse" and is a past member of the National Association of Professional Women.

Mary Forte, Business Administrator

Mary has been with Sewickley Valley Pediatrics since 1996, initially as a front office receptionist, then into our billing department. She advanced to Billing Supervisor and now serves as the practice Business Administrator. Mary is a graduate of Quigley High School in Economy Borough, PA, and received a certificate in computer programming from Computer Tech in Pittsburgh, PA.

Christy Kimble RN, CPN - Director of Clinical Services & Staff Operations

Christy joined Sewickley Valley Pediatrics in March 2005 as a clinical staff member. She quickly rose to a clinical lead position, which she  held for many years, mainly in our Sewickley office.  Most recently, she was also responsible for our Care Coordination department & as General Manager for our Front Office team members, evolving into her current role as Director of Clinical Services/Staff Operations in August 2016.  Early in her nursing career, Christy was employed at Allegheny General Hospital as a staff nurse. Christy has extensive experience working with our Practice Administrator on multiple Quality Initiatives as SVPAM has gained national recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home. Christy has degrees from Clarion University & Community College of Allegheny County and is certified in pediatric nursing through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Stephanie - RN; SVPAM Breastfeeding Support Nurse

Stephanie has been with SVPAM since January 2016. Not only a continued member of our regular clinical staff, Stephanie now has the additional role as one of our Breastfeeding Support Nurses. She is currently studying for the Certified Breastfeeding Counselor exam this summer!  She is available Monday through Friday and some Saturday mornings for any non-urgent questions/concerns related to breastfeeding. You may call any office ~ if Stephanie is not in the office, you may speak with Courtney, our other Breastfeeding Support Nurse or our regular clinical staff will take a message and Stephanie will return your call within 48 hours.  As a pro-breastfeeding practice, we are very excited to have Stephanie's knowledge and experience to help support our nursing moms!

Courtney - LPN; SVPAM Breastfeeding & GI Support Nurse

Janice ~ Patient Advocate

Janice has been a Front End Customer Care Specialist in our Rochester office for SVPAM since 2008. She always has a smile and loves to help patients & their families in any way she can. She is typically in our Rochester office and can be reached at 724-774-7110. Janice has recently received a certificate in specialized Customer Service through the Alison Learning Center.  Any problems or concerns that a family may have related to the practice, Janice is a direct go-to person for you to speak with & get resolutioin to your issue!
